AI Governance

AI governance is the fastest-growing GRC domain. The EU AI Act is the world's first comprehensive AI regulation. ISO 42001 provides the management system standard. NIST AI RMF provides the risk framework. This track covers all three in depth — risk classification, management system requirements, algorithmic impact assessments, bias detection, model documentation, and the practical challenge of governing systems that learn and change over time. Built for AI governance leads, risk managers, compliance officers, and anyone responsible for responsible AI deployment.

Module 1 of 6 · Why AI Governance

AI Governance — A New Kind of Risk

Traditional GRC assumes systems are deterministic — given the same input, they produce the same output. AI systems are probabilistic. A credit scoring model might approve one applicant and deny another with nearly identical profiles because of subtle differences in feature weights learned during training. The model's behavior can change over time as it encounters new data (model drift). The reasons for individual decisions may not be fully explainable even to the developers. This breaks fundamental assumptions in audit (how do you test a control that produces different outputs for similar inputs?), compliance (how do you prove non-discrimination if you can't fully explain the decision?), and risk management (how do you assess the risk of a system whose behavior changes without being explicitly reprogrammed?).

PRACTITIONER OUTCOME
Build industry fluency, not generic GRC knowledge
Understand how ai governance regulations shape the control environment.
Move from framework names into operating decisions, evidence, and enforcement pressure.
Use the modules in sequence, then apply the same reasoning in scenarios and projects.
